I’m on WordPress 2.5, how about you?

I have been waiting for the release of WordPress 2.5 and I have upgraded to it myself today. I guess this is the fastest upgrade I have done as I usually wait for a few weeks or so to upgrade because there is nothing much except security fix and bugs.

The moment I login to the Admin Panel, first word from me. Impressive. A excellent design of the admin panel which make me love to blog more in future. WordPress is indeed the best blogging software that I will promote if any of my friends wants to start a blog.

So have anyone upgraded to the latest WordPress 2.5? Share your experience and what has change your blogging life in the near future.

Last word before I sign off, remember to do BACKUP before you upgrade your WordPress just incase something goes wrong for you 🙂

yum in VPS

Well, I just got myself a barebone VPS today. It seems that the provider’s VPS template did not include yum. So I go ahead and grab the rpm from centos directly.

wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/yum-3.2.8-9.el5.centos.1.noarch.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/python-elementtree-1.2.6-5.i386.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/python-sqlite-1.1.7-1.2.1.i386.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/rpm-python-4.4.2-48.el5.i386.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/python-urlgrabber-3.1.0-2.noarch.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/yum-metadata-parser-1.1.2-2.el5.i386.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/m2crypto-0.16-6.el5.2.i386.rpm
wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/python-iniparse-0.2.3-4.el5.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh *.rpm

Hope this helps someone out there 🙂

Updates (02 Aug 2008): Update the RPM packages as it has been changed on the upstream provider.

WordPress 2.3.3 Upgraded

I just did a upgrade to WordPress 2.3.3 due to it’s security release.

Upgrading process for me takes less than 5 mins and I am going to share my upgrading procedure. Usually I don’t like to touch any source file, therefore I create my own patches.

This require shell access. If you have shell access for your hosting account (most shared hosting don’t have or you can request for 1 hour access), you can upgrade using my patches.

1. Login to your shell
2. Change into your working directory (eg. cd /home/username/public_html)
